Australia's new agricultural industry
Thorgard is establishing NECS Farming in the Scone district of New South Wales with the
aim of developing the innovative farming product in other rural areas of Australia and
eventually extending internationally. NECS Farms are also being set up in Victoria, Australia.
'This industry will generate a range of employment opportunities on-the-job, from-the-job
and off-the-job. We estimate that each farm will create employment of up to five people,'
Mr Vella commented.
'This figure does not take into consideration transport drivers and process/chemical
workers required to process the product and other multipliers such as suppliers and growers.
As a new industry, we require workers to develop broad-based skills and knowledge.'
This is a significant rural industry of national importance
for rural NSW/Victoria and Australia which will shape the
future direction of Australian agricultural entrepreneurialism.'
